Which are you?
Do you think it's possible to be both?
Would you rather be bored or lonely for the rest of your life?

Discuss.

It seems that intellectuals are overwhelmingly wolves...

Are we all lonely and misunderstood?

I would rather be a wolf,
however don't they go around in pacts?
So they wouldn't be lonely.

Way to take the meaning out of the question and rape it in the ass.

But honestly there are many people who are not misunderstood but who are leaders. Being misunderstood/loner and being a leader and an innovater are not always mutual. You analogy is bad, nobody will ever admit to being a sheep. Even people who are sheep. Everyone wants to be viewed by the world as misunderstood and superiorly intelligent.

So you think there is no validity in the statement? You could pick apart any analogy or any musing until it sounds ridiculous and inapplicable. It takes a powerful, self-aware person to be part of a pack but also their own person equally. Are you certain you can be both a follower and a loner simultaneously?

Yes I think there is no validity as it is stated. People who are "misunderstood" and loners are almost valueless to society and so by a purely utilitarian view are sheep. If you had said are you a sheep or a leader then it would have made more sense.

I think you misunderstand. It's not about leaders nor value to society. It's about loners and followers and personal fulfillment. My question is can you be both an individual and a follower at once? And can you only really be fulfilled if you ARE both?

Being an individual does not require leadership, you can be an individual and follow someone.

It's a metaphor.

It's not about leadership. It's about loners.

What is the point in being a loner? I can see zero benefits to having no social network whatsoever. If you need time to yourself you can get it easily without being a loner and you certainly aren't a leader if you're alone.

Also you are a lot less likely to be bored in a group. I think it's funny so many here would close to be a loner:

FOR THE LAST TIME IT IS NOT ABOUT LEADERSHIP!!

For me actually, I am never bored when I am by myself. If I'm alone, I can do whatever the fuck I want to and usually it ends up being productive or at least entertaining enough to keep me busy. Not to say that I am never entertained when in a group, but what is more awkward than being bored in a big group? It is unproductive.

It all depends on the person. Some people just don't thrive in group atmospheres.

If you are bored in a group find a new group.

I'm not bored bymyself either but I get more emotional stimulation in a group and enjoy a group more, to each his own though I was answering from my perspective.
