My friend and I were talking about the insane today. Her father works as a doctor in a closed ward at a mental hospital and her mother works at the open ward.

We were talking about how many factors can make a person go insane. So insane that he or she doesn't even notice the insanity.

I mean, I'm absolutely fascinated by killing. I'm not saying I'd ever do it, but torture and death fascinates me. Who says I won't go crazy one day and try to use every type of Russian torture I know of. It makes me cringe, but I can't stop reading about it.

Same with her. It's the addiction to Stephen King novels, isn't it?

i never read stephen king, and some people say i am somewhat insane, or somewhat below sanity...

i think its natural. it can't be genetic because my family is sane... impulse?

I get this violent thoughts from time to time. Like, I involuntarily visualise tripping a person that's running in my direction or grabbing legs of this dude leaning on a balustrade and pushing him over it. I'm otherwise a harmless guy, but such ideas come to my mind every now and then.

There has been lots of research into insanity, and actually one of the symptoms of certain types of insanity is not knowing that you are insane.
Schizophrenics, for example, probably dont realise until they are diagnosed that the voices and images are all in their heads. There have been theories to do with bad childhood attachments and the like to try to suggest why people go insane, but i suppose it also depends on whether you follow a nature or nurture train of thought.
