Ok well, my dad had a heart attack couple of days ago, i mean he's fine now and everything.
But i just dont think he realises how much he needs to change now if he doesn't want it to happen again. Im talking about giving up smoking, drinking loosing weight, that kind of thing.

If you know anyone who's had one, did there lifestyle change that much after having one?
i guess im just curious....

my father's brother had the same thing, exactly.  he would smoke it up, drink, eat unhealthy foods, etc.  he had a heart attack but didnt die.  now he's living a very healthy life.  a lot of the times the experience will scare the person into making changes.

My stepdad had 2. It changes their lifestyle greatly. If they smoked, gotta get rid of it. If they drink, gotta get rid of it. And weight's a given. No greasy foods, or salty.

Someone in my family had one though they don't really smoke or drink much anyway but they've lost a lot of weight, more through lack of appetite than anything.

My uncle had one in May '06, he never smoked, but he went to the pub on weekends, never got badly drunk or even a bit. He did on occasions, Christmas, Birthdays, etc. He cut out booze all together though and gave up work. It's been about 2 years, and he's back at work not full time, and drinking [not a lot, though, and never get drunk]. He never lost much weight though, he's not fat, kinda chunky? He eats more healthily, too.

It'd be a good idea to try to get him to stop smoking and drinking and stuff - for his benefit. :)

The same thing happened to my dad, but the incident didn't scare him one bit; he hasn't changed at all.

Yeh i think it has scared him a bit actually.
And even more so my brother. They seem to think it runs in the family, seeing as my grandad and uncle had the same thing.
But he has said hes going to stop smoking so i hope he does.
